Cooperbuilt

Auxiliary Power Unit

When primary power fails on a haul truck, every second matters. The APU was engineered to get things moving again - safely.

The Problem We Solved

On occasion, haul trucks on active worksites become disabled — losing the onboard power needed to operate steering or brakes. The result is a vehicle blocking the roadway, a halt in production, and a serious safety risk to personnel and surrounding equipment.

The CooperBuilt Auxiliary Power Unit was designed not only to aid in the recovery of disabled haul trucks, but to provide peace of mind to site managers and operators. By maintaining an efficient workflow even when primary systems fail, the APU is a necessary backup safety measure that keeps your site moving.

How the APU works

Knowing that our customers prioritise safety and efficiency, Cooper Fluid Systems engineered a mobile power unit capable of supplying power to the hoist circuit – allowing a load to be dumped – and then to the brake and steering circuit to enable the vehicle to be safely towed off the roadway.

Designed to mount onto the side of a hydraulic tank and housed in a rigid, purpose-built frame, the APU is built to withstand the harsh conditions of active mining worksites.
